This song was written for my friend, housemate, and skateboarding legend Tony Tapian. Tony wrote M.F'n Cowboy, which appears as the middle section of my song "Ma dog Ma Truck Madera". He also was a pro skater as a kid, and opened Fresno's first skateshop, "Land Shark".
Tony taught me that being entertaining was the most important thing about performance.
lyrics
Well I know
That you can't hear the things I'm saying to you
I'm sure it's just the way I'm going through
I know, I'll see you again
And heaven comes from where it goes
How much repeats through I just don't know
To let the cycle release you
But maybe if I sing this song just right there's something there for you
It's hard to put the way I feel into a means that will reach you
Over and over again
The way that you've reached us with all the things we've done
The laughs we had the thrills we got from all the songs you sung
And when farewells have been said and done time will surely show
How our hearts reach out after you however far we go
But maybe.....
And heaven comes from where it goes
How much repeats through I just don't know
To let the cycle release you
But maybe if I sing this song just right there's something there for you
It's hard to put the way I feel into a means that will reach you
Over and over again
( I thought the following was from from a poem "The Tree Of Life" but a google search is not revealing anything. I'm not sure where I stole it from now. I modified it. bkf 10-3-14 )
"Feel the mystery of sleep calling you home
Feel the wind and rain and sun tearing your branches from you
(one by one )
Feel the earth pulling you back to it's womb
Sleep and let the soil consume your energy"
(over and over )
